Young Australians and Uruguayans will be able to enjoy an extended holiday in each other’s country under a new work and holiday agreement.

The work and holiday visa agreement between the Australian and Uruguayan governments was signed at Parliament House in Canberra on 29 November 2012.

The agreement provides a unique opportunity for university-educated Australian and Uruguayan travellers aged between 18 and 30 years old to work and holiday in each other’s country for up to 12 months. More information on work and holiday visas is available here.

There will be an annual limit of 200 work and holiday visas for both countries. Arrangements will be made over the coming months to enable Uruguay and Australia to start issuing the visas to its citizens.
